Probably not a Poison Ivy case.
Coul dbe a tick bite or spider bite. One of the 6 US poisonous species could be fiddelback spider (Brown Recluse) - if you live between TX and NC.

Check Lyme disease sites to find out what to watch for. Only 30% of infetions start with a red ring. But they are sore.
