Several responses have alluded to what I need to ask. Caution to the individual who stated that her husband does not respond/react to PI etc. My husband claims that he has never reacted to PI or the other similar poisonous plants. He was cutting wood and literally, with bare hands, tore the vine from the trees he was cutting. He is in his forties now and reacted so severely I took him to the emergency room. His eyes were so swollen it looked like he had been in a fight. Which leads to our delima. We hate to waste the wood that had the vines on it. I have repeatedly read on the Q&A board that the poisonous oil can remain active for up to 5 years. Is there any type of solution that can be applied to the wood to neutralize the oil so that we do not have to waste the wood? Will rinsing the wood with water help? We would hate to burn the wood next year and become victims of lung PI. Any information about neutralizing the PI or PO oil on the cut wood could help prevent a life or death burning. Thanks!
