I took same/similar precautions for a month with no rash at all.
Which lead me to believe that the ivy is not the poisonous one or that I am not sensitive and I relaxed the cautions one weekend. Three week ago, I still look like a spotted jaguar.
But I don't cut it. I gently pull it out.
Sometimes the PI root leads me up to 5 yards away under dry leaves to now colonies that I would not have seen. I guess that if I'd cut it out, the yards of rope-like roots would be more likely to sprout again.
But important are the chemocal gloves, the ones reaching up to your elbows. The way I got it last time was through forearms. With short gloves, Even if careful, you cannot prevent the sleeve to pull out and some ivy to get between the glove and the sleeve.
Now my only problem - hwo to dispose of dozen garbage bags full of poison ivy leaves?
