| Hi Christina, I have a serious break out with ivy or oak poisoning. I have had it for 10 days tomorrow. Please don't take any chances that this could be poison that your son got into. Make sure to wash all of his clothes in some type of bleach or something that will rid the clothing of all the oil from the poisonous vine. And more importantly, bathe your son in something like palmolive dish soap from head to toe to remove the possibility of the oil from his body. If you notice any signs of breaking out in the next day or two, take him to a dr. Mine started about 5 or 6 hours after I came in contact with the vine. I thought at first it was nothing more than a spider bite on my wrist. But, the next morning it had spread to the top of my hand and 4 days later I had it on my neck. Now it's nearly 10 days later and it's still popping up all over my body. I have it on my back, my legs, both arms, literally all over my body. If he should break out, wash all the sheets and things he has touched or been laying on, including clothing, and shoes, shoe strings, everything. I sure wouldn't want him or anyone to suffer the way I'm suffering right now with this stuff. It's horrible. I was trying to avoid going to the dr. because I have side affects from everything, and I didn't want to get any steroid or prednizone shots. That is what they do for poison outbreaks.
