I to got a series of shots about 27 years ago. I learned later that even though the worst case of Poison Ivy I have had since then is a tiny bump, the shot was discontinued because the advantages were outweighed by the disadvantages.
I believe the shot was similar in nature to tetinus.
The shot was administered 4 times one week apart I believe and was to last 4 years.
