Poison sumac is an extremely elusive plant and there are a number of "imposters" or other sumacs which look similar. As to your question, there has been reports of poison sumac in Indiana. You can see a distribution map at the USDA website here: http://plants.usda.gov/. Even though it is in the region does not mean that the plant is prevalent. This plant loves "wet feet" and is generally found in bogs, swamps, etc. |
