I am now going thru my second time with poison oak, I garden a lot here in Georgia and have on occasion pulled out roots only to find that it was the dreaded poison oak. The very best treatment I have found is a product called ZANFEL poison ivy cream, it was purchased at the pharmacist and was not easy to find, it also is very expensive but well worth it. A lot of times the poison ivy has done a lot of skin damage before you even realize that it's not just a nasty bug bite, by that time it has spread. I was told by my doctor that poison oak does not wash out of your clothes and will even be on them up to one year later, he told me to just burn the items. I believe him as this last experience I have endured was on my husbands clothes, and mine were washed with them. Hope this helps.
