I have had Poison Oak for a long time. 7 weeks since my first exposure. 5 weeks since my second exposure this summer, and counting. 3 rounds of prednisone, which did not cure it, just cleared it up a bit, until the dosage got lowered. Then it proceeds to spread again. Not bad, just a bunch of spots on all parts of my body, which is really annoying.
I have tried Zanfel,(and currently have it in the medicine cabinet) and it works great for relieving the itching, and helps clear up nearly formed spots, but doesnt stop new spots from appearing or getting rid of spots over a week old. (But will relieve the itching on spots/rash of any age.) go get it but use it sparingly or only when you REALLY need it. Its EXTREMELY expensive. Use burrows astringent solution at full strength as an alternative. Its cheaper.
