Hi Linda - First off I've heard the same about "spreading in the bloodstream" but to be honest I've found nothing credible yet to support this. Given what we know about urushiol oil, bonding, and the immune system reaction it seems a bit farfetched to me about urushiol traveling in the blood. But I have been known to be wrong... As for the course of steroids, I've read many documents which state that the course should be 14 days or more otherwise you can end up with a rebound rash worse than the original. You may be experiencing just that. I am not a doctor and give this information to you based on my research on the topic. You should read this information and discuss in detail with your doctor. Here are just a few of those documents I've read: Now for the vaccine. I am not aware of any approved vaccines on the market today. There have been some to come and go. A number of treatments were pulled by the FDA back in 1993. You might want to question your doctor more about the product in question, its efficacy, as well as whether its been properly approved for this use.

In my search to double check on vaccines, I came across a promising little blurb. The article titled, Are some people immune to poison ivy?, briefly discusses urushiol oil and the immune system response. The promising blurb is that apparently there is a vaccine now in trials with early promising results. Stay tuned!
