You mentioned that the thinner skinned areas break out first and then the thicker skinned areas. I did break out on the shins and the forearms first as you said (7 days ago). My doctor gave me a seven-day supply of Methylprednalisone and Zyrtec and said it would begin clearing up in three days. N-O-T!!! I revisited him yesterday (Thursday--5 days later) with even more rash and unbelievable itching. I have been unable to sleep at night and feel I'm ready to lose my mind! He said he has about one or two failures/year--I am one, apparently. He gave me a shot and 10 days prescription for Zyrtec. I did sleep last night, but I had itching again today (not quite as bad, however).

Now the rash is spreading to my stomach, neck, inner thighs, etc. I KNOW I was not exposed to poison ivy on these body areas. My husband says it's probably in my bloodstream and is moving to these other areas. Is this possible? The websites I've visited do not mention this phenomenon.

In addition, has anyone heard about or had the poison ivy vaccine. The doctor mentioned it. However, you must not have an active case when getting it, and it's administered in three successive doses. DOES IT WORK?

Thanks to anyone who can give me ANY insight!
