Hi Krisitna -

The thorns generally mean brambles. Could be wild rose (rosa multiflora)? Virginia creeper doesn't have thorns. It is a vine and attaches to hosts via tendrils. As for the rash, without knowing exactly what the plant is it would be tough to say if its normal. Once thing we do know is that there are a number of plants which can cause a rash that are not well reported.
