Actually it's quite tough to get a rash on the palms of the hands (soles of the feet as well) due to the thickness of the skin. The urushiol oil must penetrate the upper layers of skin and bond with lower layers in order to kick off the chain of events that lead to the dreaded rash. For additional reading, may I suggest:
