Thank you for your reply. I think the point I was missing on this whole thing, was that one leaf consists of three "leaflets". And that each leaflet is alternating, as does on a vine. I was looking at the leaflets apparently, and all of them looked to be opposite, minus the middle, longer one. It's all making sense now.....
