Every reputable site on the net discussing poison Ivy including Web MD states that poison ivy cannot travel from person to person once the oil has been washed off. This includes blistering as the fluid in the blisters is body fluid made up of mostly water. Once the oil is absorbed into your skin and you have taken a shower, it cannot be spread. The reason that it appears to spread after scratching is that the oil is absorbed at different rates depending on the thickness of your skin. It cannot penetrate your palms, thus you never see rashes there. It will take longer to show up in different areas.
