I get frustrated with the blanket statements that the rash only spreads as a result of the contact of oil with the skin. In another post (see Can poison ivy enter your blood? 7/27/03) they refer to the systemic spread of the rash. I get it about once per year, sometimes just a small rash that I can control, other times the rash explodes all over my body. I find that if I perspire from too much activity, even weeks after the initial exposure the rash will flare up again and in new areas. I swear I am cleaning my skin, clothing and other surfaces very diligently, so I no longer trust the statement that there is no systemic spread of the rash. Am I crazy?
