Hi. I have had two cases of p.i. over the past three months and I scratch it all the time. Probably not the best thing to do as scatching can cause infection - although I have never been able to verify this. I have not heard of anyone who uses this board that has goteen an infection from scratching. Perhaps someone out there can verify. I can only speak for myself, but I can't seem to resist the urge to scratch the stuff and I even pop the blisters from time to time. I know it sounds fairly crude but I find it hard not to pop them. My cases have been pretty mild though compared to some here, which sound extremely painful and I feel very fortunate not to have gotten such a nasty reaction.
Good luck! I found the best thing for me was to educate myself as much as posible on how to identify it botanically and am pretty confident now that I can tell it apart from most other plants.
