I'm not a doctor either but I too question the use of steroids for a normal course of a urusiol oil induced rash (poison ivy, oak, sumac). What you need to do is find a way to deal with the itching. There are a number of remedies posted here on the treatments section and also on a number of excellent sites such as the Academy of Dermatologists. Try cold compresses. A paste of baking soda. Hmmm.... there are many others.
As for the sandals - a good washing is all that should be necessary. I just use a good soap /detergent like Joy or Dawn and lots of water. |
