I've spent all afternoon looking at this site (which is great! but don't tell my boss....), and the one item of confusion is the leaf pattern on the poison ivy. I know poison oak well, but the ivy is new to me. I've read countless identification reports with the pictures saying that one of the easiest ways to i.d. poison ivy (versus box elder, etc.) is that on poison ivy, the leaves below the middle stem are alternating, whereas the box elder has two opposite leaves. I understand the concept I think, but no pictures stating that this is shown clearly allows me to see this telltale sign. Can someone post CLEAR pictures of ivy versus non-ivy that shows this?
