Read your post with interest...five days ago I was pulling weeds in an overgrown flower bed, saw the poison ivy and was pretty sure I avoided touching it...BUT...the next day I had spots on my legs (looked like bug bites - I could count them - about 15 of them) which were terribly itchy...they got so bad Thursday night that I couldn't sleep. Called the Dr. Friday a.m. and he prescribed a steroid cream and told me to take Benedryl. Did this, and the itching stopped, but now the spots have turned purple! UGLY!! I look like I have some weird disease!
Have no idea if it was poison ivy or bug bites, but your post sure sounded close...
