Hi Steve -
You've brought up a good point. It is important to choose a doctor with good experience and knowledge of rashes. Many rashes are unexplained as to cause but a good understanding of the underlying dynamics and treatment possibilities goes a long way towards successful treatment. I do need to mention that I am not a doctor but I do understand that doctors especially general practitioners must learn about a multitude of health issues including treatment. One doctor cannot know all there is to know about everything which is why we have specialists. It is imperative to work with your doctor and discuss treatment options, side-effects, and other concerns. If you do not feel comfortable in your discussions consider asking for a referral to another. Successful treatment really needs to be a team effort - you and your doctor must work together.
As an aside, Steve, if your rash was caused by contact with urushiol oil (contained in poison oak) then a 10 day run is pretty normal. 4 or 5 days is short - I'd love to have a run that short instead of the norm. |
