Sounds like you have a great anti-theft deterrent :-). But seriously, in time that mowed area should become usable. The plant matter will rot. Any urushiol oil exposed will oxidize and with a good rain (or several) become diluted. You might consider tilling the soil and putting the stuff under to help enrich the soil, of course, taking care to clean up well afterwards. This would likely speed up the rotting process.
Spraying is a good idea. We've done that for years to keep the poison ivy under control. My husband uses Roundup (the concentrate that you have to mix and he adds in some soap to help) and others swear by Brush-B-Gon. The products are pretty good at keeping the plants at bay. |
