Hi Meg -

I'm so sorry to hear about this nasty rash you have. I would definitely consult the doctor about options and possibly a referral to a dermatologist. Many recommend a much longer course of steroids as well as a topical cream to help control the itching. If you do a search on the message board, you'll find several discussions about steroids. There are many who have suffered similar to you.

You might also consider looking at some of the viewer suggestions to managing the itch. I can't give you any specific suggestions as I'm one to just ignore the whole thing. My husband thinks I'm nuts :-) but it really works for me. I don't scratch the itch and I just leave the whole thing be (except of course to keep the rash clean and dry).

Once you have a rash like this there isn't much you can do to just make it go away. You can control the itch, reduce swelling, and generally promote healing but beyond that you have to go the course. The norm is about 10 to 14 days.
