Taking corticosteroids such as prednisone can cause a "short circuit" of the immune system. This can have the effect of keeping swelling down, preventing more blisters, and just in general allows the body to heal. Of course, there are side-effects that need to be taken into consideration. Consulting with your doctor for more than the "usual" case is good advice. |
