Six years ago my husband burned wood with poison ivy on it and experienced a mild facial abruption with burning and swelling. We recently moved back into the same area "Southern Md." and he has since been plagued with redness, swelling, and burning seeping areas around his eyes. He has been to the emergency room for swelling. That was after a day of planting trees. He could have come in contact with roots buried in the soil...but since then he has been very cautious and is still experiencing outbreaks. His allergist has refered him to a dermatologist at John Hopkins. He had an outbreak while living in a suburban area in which he had a swollen Left neck and was refered for a perotid gland biopsy which was negative. It's my belief that the poison ivy is remaining in him systemically and that any time he sweats it comes out in his face. How can you get rid of it systemically? He has been on 50mg of prednisone and still had a mild reaction as he is weaning off from it. Sunglasses are his only resort. Please help with resources to inhaled poison ivy and other experiences!
