Hives? Predisone, Heat, Sun, P Oak|
| I was recently given Prednisone for poison oak, but no one told me to stay out of the sun while on that medication. After on it for a week, I was involved in several days of all-day bike riding in the heat and sun. I developed a red rash, whelps, itching only where the sun hit. I came off the prednisone and thought I had sun poisoning. But after some research on the Internet, I'm wondering if I have hives (never had anything like this before). The poison oak was going away, although now I'm seeing little isolated blisters on my thigh, neck and arms. The "hive" rash began to immediately clear up once I got out of the sun, and is almost gone after a week. But was this hives, or a reaction to Prednisone, or what? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I'm scheduled to ride again this weekend and now I don't know if I should. Also, I've been taking Claritin to help with the poison oak. It's helping the itch, but what effect will this have on getting hives again (if that's what I had)? |
