Hi Patty,
I sent email to you to your hotmail account yesterday (6/21) morning about 9:00am EDT. Did you not receive it yet? I'll copy my response here so that you can see what I sent.

Hi Patty,
I apologize for the delay in reply but this last week I've been inundated with plant identification requests. Still not caught up but am working on it.
I've looked at your pictures several times and I'm not 100% sure. At first glance, I believe it is poison ivy but need some additional information to make a positive id. I would err on the side of caution and have people steer clear of the plants. To get rid of this, a good herbicide like Brush-B-Gon should take care of the plant. This may take a few applications to properly get rid of the unwanted vine.
The characterisitics I see in the picture which indicate poison ivy are the trifoliate leaves (3 leaflets), the climbing habit, the woody vine. I can see a bit of how the vine clings but am sure if that is tendrils or aerial rootlets (a much closer picture would help me there). Also, a closer picture would allow me to see better the middle leaflet and its relation to the rest of the leaf.
You are welcome to email me with any questions you may have. |
