I think I have a poison ivy rash, but am not sure. First showed up on one knee about 3 days after I worked in the yard. Yes, there is "suspected" poison ivy in the yard, but I thought I stayed clear of it. The symptoms started with the itching, that within a few hours show up as pimply little bumps. By the 5th day, a second area began to show, but I still didn't think much of it because it was on my wrist, and sometimes I have a mild reaction to my perfume. By the 7th day, I was convinced the two areas were related. Also, spent more time in the yard the seventh day. Today is day 8 and the first day I have actually considered this may be my problem. Incidentally, noticed one bump on my other wrist earlier today, and not 30 minutes ago felt an itch near the same knee and when I absent mindedly scratched it, immediately noticed several little bumps. My question is this....all the tips are for immediate solutions. What about when you might have been exposed a week ago? How do I know more areas won't keep popping up, or what can I do to prevent it? Also, how long does the poison ivy stay on anything (like my garden gloves)?
Any input would be appreciated. I guess I'll try the dish soap and the baking soda, but have no idea what I may be in for! |
