Hot spots are caused when a dog becomes wet/damp and is not thoroughly dried. The skin forms a fungus, and then scabs and becomes raw. It is hot to the touch and is painful to the dog. You can use Gold Bond powder on the spots or I think Dr. Scholls food powder. Usually appears beneah the tail of a curled tail or top of the head and other hard to dry spots like arms pits and groin.
