Why don't I itch? I would prefer to itch than burn. I break out
from poison ivy at least three times a year-including the winter
months-for the past six years and I have never been itchy. For me,
it feels as if someone is constantly holding a flame to my skin. I
have tried every topical treatment your web site has listed-and
then some-and nothing has ever relieved the burning sensation. In
fact, most of them increase my pain-probably because most of them
contain alchohol. Iv'e gone the medical route too. Iv'e tried
several different types of antihistimines, steroids, prescription
creams and gels. I cannot find relief! My doctor is now telling me
that the only thing to do is wait it out, "just let it run it's
course." Well, it's course with me seems to be 4 to 7 tearful days
of severe pain-extreme burning to where I cannot sleep and feel
like I am going mental. Then I have about 2 to 3 weeks of tolerable
burning. Does anyone else experience this type of reaction? If so,
how do you deal with it? Irene
