Why don't I itch? I would prefer to itch than burn. I break out
   from poison ivy at least three times a year-including the winter
   months-for the past six years and I have never been itchy. For me,
   it feels as if someone is constantly holding a flame to my skin. I
   have tried every topical treatment your web site has listed-and
   then some-and nothing has ever relieved the burning sensation. In
   fact, most of them increase my pain-probably because most of them
   contain alchohol. Iv'e gone the medical route too. Iv'e tried
   several different types of antihistimines, steroids, prescription
   creams and gels. I cannot find relief! My doctor is now telling me
   that the only thing to do is wait it out, "just let it run it's
   course." Well, it's course with me seems to be 4 to 7 tearful days
   of severe pain-extreme burning to where I cannot sleep and feel
   like I am going mental. Then I have about 2 to 3 weeks of tolerable
   burning. Does anyone else experience this type of reaction? If so,
   how do you deal with it? Irene
