Question Asked: Is this poison ivy? Before I cut down this weed wanted to make sure. The leaves seem to all be attached to the greenish stalk (about 5ft tall) seen to the left of the white drainpipe.

Answer: Hi Raymond -

That common plant is boxelder. You can tell it from poison ivy by 1) green stem and 2) leaves opposite (in pairs) on stem. Seems to be pretty prolific in our area - I see it all the time (I'm in northern VA too).
